TNS Media Intelligence released its report of advertising spending for the first 9 months of 2008. Overall expenditures are down 1.7%, and indicators show further decline is on the way. While we've all been aware of the economic downturn for a few months now (unless you're head was under a rock), there's more to this information than what you might see with just a surface glance. Small businesses should be paying attention, as the changes in spending say a lot about changing times, and not just the changing economy.
Ball Ground, Georgia has a new opportunity for local businesses. Today we attended, and joined, the Ball Ground Business Association, a group of companies located in or doing business in Ball Ground who are looking to network with each other, share marketing opportunities, encourage businesses and customers to the city, and become a driving force in the revitalization of this small North Georgia town.
Tonight we attended a Business After Hours networking event sponsored by BB&T and the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce. We try our best to take advantage of each of these opportunities to meet other local business people, to connect with future prospects and referral sources, to learn what companies are out there in the community, and of course, to talk about our business.
Recently we received a call from a gentleman looking for help with his website. Nothing unusual about that. What was interesting was that the man built his website using a free web editing program - a hammer so to speak. We checked out the authoring tool and found it to be a pretty neat piece of software - in the right hands. After all, owning a hammer doesn't make me a carpenter....
